Wireless Power Transfer by Means of Inductive Coupling.

Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) is the transfer of electrical energy without using any conductor or cable. It is an innovative technology to transmit electrical power with no contact between the source and the load. WPT is very useful in cases where it is hard to transmit energy using conventional wires. In this paper, WPT is adapted through inductive coupling and a practical design is developed in consequence. The magnetic fields generated by the primary coil can be arranged to interact dynamically with matched secondary coil in distant equipment. The inductive coupling WPT works with electromagnetic induction principle, which is based on the principle of a primary coil generating a main magnetic field and a secondary coil being surrounded by that field thereby inducing current within its coils. This causes a relatively short range due to the amount of power required to produce an electromagnetic field. This paper presents the results of an experiment to check the wireless power transfer working with different applications like glowing LEDs and running a fan.

 
 

Nowadays, the dependency of humans on electronic gadgets is very high. It has become essential to find ways to power these gadgets wirelessly so as to make the adoption of gadgets unambiguous. Wires are quite hard to handle at times and cause limitations to usage especially while travelling. These challenges have compelled scientists all around the world to look for alternatives to wires.
Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) is an efficient way for the transmission of electric power from one point to another through vacuum or atmosphere without the use of wire or any substance. By using WPT, power can be transmitted using inductive coupling for a short range, resonant induction for mid-range and electromagnetic wave power transfer for a long range. By using this technology, it is possible to supply power to places, when it is hard to do using conventional wires. Currently, the use of inductive coupling is in development and research phases.
