Infosys was ranked among the top 50 most respected companies in the world according to Global Reputation Pulse 2009, the annual report release by the Reputation Institute. According to the recent survey of Indian consumers, conducted by the Reputation Institute, Infosys received a global reputation pulse rating of 77.45, and was ranked 39th on a list of the largest companies in India. The IT giant's reputation score is above the average rating of all organizations rated by costumers in 32 countries. Infosys in placed as one of the best elite group made up of the 200 best-graded companies in the world.

At a time when organizations are debating the significance of cultural and behavioral interventions on human resources, Infosys, a consulting and software services organization, includes its human resources on its balance sheet to affirm their asset value. As the knowledge-intensive company, Infosys recognizes the value of its human assets in maintaining and building enhanced culture and values for increasing its aggressive position among the rivals. At the same time, Infosys realizes that these assets can easily `walk away', as competitors in India and abroad want IT talent. Subsequently, the challenge facing Infosys is: "How can it build an effective organization through attracting, retaining and developing its human assets in a highly competitive and dynamic environment." This question is answered through extensive literature review and interview with the Infosys employees.
