Normally, men in power write their memoir soon after they retire from power. But Pakistan's Military Dictator, Pervez Musharraf has written his memoir before retirement. Who knows, he must have had premonitions on impending disaster in his life, which might not allow him any time to write in leisure after retirement.

Musharraf is under tremendous fire from moderates as well as extreme rights in Pakistan. Prior to Musharraf's usurpation of power in Pakistan by engineering a military coup, right wing or Islamic fundamentalists were in a minority of 5%. Musharraf's support to Islamic terrorists against India enhanced the power of Islamic fundamentalists by placing them in power in the North-West Frontier Province.

However, he now faces threat to his power from moderates in Pakistan as well. Nothing has succeeded to enhance this threat as much as Musharraf's ill-conceived measure of removing Pakistani Supreme Court's Chief Justice, Iftikar Ahmed. This boomeranged on Musharraf since not only the supporters of the Chief Justice, but practically the entire legal fraternity came out openly on the street demanding that the chief justice be reinstalled. Now that Chief Justice Iftikar Ahmed is back in his office, he is likely to challenge Musharraf, if he makes efforts to retain his military hat in addition to civilian suit beyond December 2007.
