Abstract
A job interview is the most `dreaded' event in the life of an individual. There is no fixed procedure or one `best' way to go through an interview. The mantra for success in interviews is how well the candidate is able to project himself. This article focuses on the importance of displaying one's inherent and acquired skills meticulously at the time of interview.
Description
The present scenario of recruitment is
extremely competitive and intense. Employers today are
looking for candidates who have the `killer instinct' and
those who are `go-getters'. The candidates should endeavor
to rise above the crowd. Just as a product having multiple
uses fetches a greater value in the market, similarly,
a candidate with multiple skills is a valuable asset to
the prospective employer. In other words, the candidate
should promote himself to the best of his ability in order
to have an edge over others. However he should focus on
what is actually desired by the organization. Employers
need people who can `drive' and not those who can be `driven'.
No matter how best the schooling has been, no matter how
good the Grade Point Average (GPA) has been, eventually
what matters is the performance in the interview.
Every interview is a learning experience;
hence, the candidate is required to showcase his caliber
in those few moments of the interview. It is a chance to
display the skills that the candidate possesses, which
suit the required position. So, no matter how brilliant
the credentials are, it is ultimately the ability to `sell
the skills to the interviewer' and thereby clear the interview.
In order to sail through the interview process smoothly,
candidates need to keep in mind.
