Motivation matters because it has the power to bring about change. It is essential for us to understand the meaning so that we can use it in an effective manner.

Children, students even teachers, workers, professionals, rich and the poor and every other living being under the sun are touched by the phenomena of motivation. Strictly speaking, motivation is a psychological concept or it can be better understood from the psychological point of view.

Right from the beginning of this world, this concept is being utilized, knowingly or unknowingly.

Motivation has a great power within it. It can help achieve the seemingly impossible. This can be very well understood in our daily life. On the sports field, if the coach or captain motivates the players, it acts like an energizing tonic. Similarly in the case of studies, if the students are motivated by their parents, teachers or elder ones, positive results can be seen. In short, we will try to understand the meaning of motivation.

"Motivation is an art of stimulating people to get the desired things done" or it can also be said as "Motivation is a process which inspires the human efforts in an organization to perform their duties in the best possible manner so that the predetermined objectives of the enterprise may be achieved."

In general, it means appreciation. There is no one in this world who does not like appreciation. Even God, to whom we all pray, likes appreciation. People who believe in God appreciate him in their prayer, and so it is believed that after such prayer, (God) gets pleased/happy and the wants of the person who prays are fulfilled. By this concept we can understood very well the meaning of motivation.
