The Apollo Hospitals Group, India's first corporate hospital, has been recognized as the "Architect of Modern Healthcare" in India. The hospital was incorporated as a Public Limited Company in the year 1979, promoted by Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Executive Chairman. Its resource management and able deployment of technology and knowledge in the service has brought Apollo Hospitals national and international recognition and acceptance.
Over 750,000 major surgeries and over 10,00,000 minor surgical procedures have been performed till 2003 at Apollo. These procedures include cardiothoracic, neurology, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, renal, obstetric, ENT, opthalmology, dental, plastic, cosmetic and tumour surgeries. Apollo strives to use minimally invasive and micro-vascular techniques with success rates on par with international standards.

Dr. Kovelmudi Hari Prasad is the Vice-President of Medical Services, Apollo Hospitals. His connection with Apollo Hospitals dates back to 1997 when he joined as a anaesthology consultant. Apollo Hospitals has graduated from a 150 bedded hospital based in Chennai to an Integrated Healthcare Delivery System with activities spanning across the entire healthcare domain.
