In those days should be earth & sky should be over the earth
& earth only earth those people had to eat.

Once ant brought cassava from the sky, water once,
made people hungry then, then thirsty.

We had more words for food and water
than food and water.

A man Dariche followed ant that time.
He became a swift and flew to the food-keeper’s garden,

to the tree where everything grew at once,
bud and ripe fruit, seed and flower.

The stab and tug of his beak woke the food-keeper,
woke Iamankave from her slumber.
