Who is a leader? The answer for this simple question cannot be simple. It can be viewed from different angles. But, in common we can state a leader is a person who can influence others and make them follow him. He can influence people through coercion as well as his charisma. Both are claimed to be the styles of leadership. We cannot deny the fact that Hitler was a leader who influenced people through his autocracy and power. Leaders change their situation through their choice and determination. They make things happen around them. Good leaders observe other leaders carefully and nurture their competencies to mould their own styles. The value and culture, which most of the business leaders of today have are quite contradictory to one another. But, the question is, what made them to succeed? A successful leader is said to have combination of some key attributes of leadership.

Many leaders that we have seen and are seeing are not the same. No two successful leaders can have same type of qualities. Gandhi and Churchill cannot be compared in their styles. The differences they have shown may be due to their backgrounds. But it is shocking to know that none of the successful leaders have got all these attributes. If, all these attributes are essential for good leaders, then we would have never come across leaders in our life. Countless combination of these attributes will result in different styles of leadership. But, the successful leaders that we are going to discuss about are different in their gender, culture, behavior, business, background, etc. These people share two things in common. One is tenacity, that is, adherence to the long-term vision. Their vision stood in front of their decisions and actions.
