The rapid globalization, movement of people across geographical regions, integration of markets and emergence of new economy have brought fresh challenges for companies. They have also thrown fresh challenges in the context of employability of students.

In today's cut-throat competitive market, changing economic and demographic set-up, inviting the companies in campus and further placing students with them has become very challenging. The expectations of companies from students have become manifold. The numbers of B-Schools also have increased tremendously. Companies have their own rating of B-Schools. There are various rating agencies also which rate the B-Schools. B-Schools are also aggressively marketing their brands to woo companies. In such a context nurturing and developing students in terms of skill sets and company expectations are very important. Rapid globalization, integration of market and expansion of new economy have brought huge opportunities for the students. At the same time, it has thrown fresh challenges in the context of employability of students. All these have made the task of placement bureau really tough to attract companies and place students.

There are various roadblocks (especially in case of tier-II institution) for efficient placement activities. Recruitment policy of companies is very stringent e.g., percentage of marks 60 and above. Company never compromises on that. But most of the shortcomings can be overcome through systematic planning and implementation of various value added programs.

Highly Heterogeneous Profile of Students:This phenomenon is very common in case of most of the tier-II institutions where students come from different backgrounds (rural, urban, convent educated) different UG courses ( BA, BBM, BCOM, BE), etc. Along with these, students come from management quota as well as government quota. Altogether, the classroom becomes highly heterogeneous. In such a situation it is really tough to have uniform developments among all students. There are instances where students can't follow lectures in English properly. Teachers take extra effort to teach them in the local language. Many B-Schools have come out with the concept of foundation course on the areas where students have difficulties to understand e.g., basic accountancy course for students who have come from non-commerce background etc. English language lab also has come up to improve the communication skills. Definitely all these efforts have helped improve students overall ability and personality. But still many shortcomings remain. Finally, it becomes tough to place all the students.
