This paper discusses the linkages between spirituality and management education. Traditional education is not enough to develop well-rounded individuals capable of handling a volatile, complex and dynamic business world. It requires the addition of spiritual intelligence to make the change from self-consciousness to the consciousness of the self. It is this spiritual intelligence that aids the manager to awaken the firm to its true potential and greater role in terms of corporate social responsibility.

Spirituality refers to the age-old values that have always sustained our society and life on planet Earth. These values serve as the very basis of a harmonious existence amid humans and all of nature.

Spirituality needs to be an important part of education. The goal of education is not to generate a generation only capable of understanding the language of machines. The real objective of learning is not just exposure to existing knowledge but also to critical skills like team building, leadership, creativity and a good mindset. Any education system which cannot address the above-mentioned scopes of personality is not comprehensive in itself. While they strive to acquire education, a degree and the qualifications to earn a good living, we should help our students understand that education for life is an entirely different thing. Education for life is spirituality, practicing values such as love, compassion, patience, forgiveness, etc. This alone will create a deep sense of responsibility towards our fellow human beings, nature and the world as a whole. Today, science and technology has reached the pinnacle of glory, yet widening the gap between poverty and affluence, leading to a state of despair and cynicism in the mass psyche.

The very purpose of education is to improve the quality of life, not based on knowledge alone but the value-based education and spirituality with a sense of purity and purpose.
