Indian economy was agriculture based for a pretty long time. It has witnessed green revolution, white revolution, etc., swiftly the economy having shifted to manufacturing. It was the phase of industrial revolution. There were ample government jobs available in the economy during the time of previous generations. India is also the silent bystander of brain drain during 1970s and 1980s. Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization (LPG) offered a whole gamut of jobs in 1990s. There were many types of newer jobs available in the market. During the same period, cell phone services got introduced which employed thousands of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled individuals. Multinational Corporations (MNCs) invested in India and absorbed many individuals in various positions. Three beauty pageants were won by Indian ladies and cosmetic companies entered into the country with their presence being prominently felt. Many revolutionary changes were made during late 1990s as the floodgates were opened to numerous banking and financial services.

Easy availability of finance for commercial as well as personal uses not only fueled the economic growth but also created numerous jobs at various levels. Privatization played a catalytic role in creation of lucrative jobs in private sector. Technology, specifically the introduction of computer in 1990s, changed the nature of jobs during recent times.
