Global companies should understand the unique needs of employees in each location and HR has to play an important role in developing a cultural glue to bind together the diverse workforce. Understanding the business needs implies understanding the global nature of doing business in the present times. The individual divisions like HR and Marketing are significantly influenced by the globalization process of business enterprises. Important aspects of business organizations and their performance in the global arena are analyzed here.

Today's business leaders are challenged to build dynamic, entrepreneurial and truly global organizations in pursuit of excellence. Think global is a major challenge for the strategic think tank of organizations. Even the individual sub systems like HR and marketing are significantly impacted by the globalization process of business enterprises. It is indeed a tough call to run a business organization successfully on a global scale, as the variables are far too complex and profound. The most crucial variable is the HR factor, which needs to be tackled with a conscious and well thought out strategic plan. The last two decades of the 20th century have witnessed the tremendous impact of the twin revolutions of transportation and telecommunications. The ease with which a business can operate is almost a fairy tale. The multiple time zones and cultural, economic and political diversity have made the workplace a complex proposition. In most countries the HR sub system has grown into a national discipline, purely taking into account the local needs of the people as well as the organizations. In other words, few HR professionals are adequately prepared for the new global business order that is slowly yet surely emerging. This calls for a fresh perspective to view how HR should operate at the global level. The three strategic perspectives should relate to the following dimensions.
