A mammoth challenge for HR is to ensure that well- settled employees do not leave the organization. HR has a very important role to playto reorient the human asset in such a manner that from mere individuals, they are transformed to be a part of the organization without losing their identities. Increasingly, HR is transforming itself from being merely a general storehouse of selective information recruitment to moving to the forefront in terms of championing positive change, providing the right talent at the right time and ensuring a happy yet focused workforce.

A recent survey reveals that the manpower turnover rate is in excess of 10% in more than a quarter of the Fortune 500 companies. The survey also reveals that at least 55% of CEOs consider recruitment and retention of talent as the number one problem confronting their organization. NIIT has created an unusual designation for the top man coded as Chief Fun Officer. The person should consider himself someone whose main responsibility is to ensure that the employees enjoy their job and have fun working for the organization. Hence the real challenge for HR in an organization is to establish its credibility ensuring that its internal customers observe significant value in their contribution to the organization.
