There are certain personality traits which help us know whether we are fit to do a job or start something on our own.

"The grass looks greener on the other side," is a well-known adage. However, one may not pay as much attention to this saying when it comes to making decisions in one's career. Our condition is no different from that of the rats running the rat race in search of greener pastures. Some are able to eat the grass, but others do not get the opportunity. The left-outs believe that they have missed the rich taste of grass, and those who have eaten the grass share their experiences with the left-outs.

The corporate sector is like a field of grass whose taste is becoming increasingly bitter and the outer appearance even more beautiful than before. Everyday is hectic; there are deadlines to meet, 24x7 schedules, a job you can lose at any given point of time, the drive for wealth maximization in a limited period of time, save-your-skin attitude, etc. All these can lead to a situation where one's life is filled with stress. Employees no longer like to do any work, it's more like an unpleasant chore that has to be finished. They are paid for the pseudo-orientation towards the customer. Every effort of an individual is labeled with a price. (Some do not even have that fortune). Nowadays, it is a common phenomenon to see individuals having bloated egos, just because they work for multinationals and travel abroad frequently. In this materialistic economy, one seems to have forgotten the essentialself. We are running in a particular direction like cattle and sheep for the simple reason that others too are running in that direction.

The tribe of managers who are paid hefty salaries are, in a way, running today's economy. It is they who take car loans for the luxury cars (Rs. 6 Lac +), stay in Five Star hotels, travel only by air, etc. But, believe me, there is nothing wrong in this. After all, these are some of the big attractions why people opt for starting their own small business. They believe that they lead a life of better quality when compared to those struggling in unorganized sectors.
