Cosmetic advertisements if sensible, could be more rational and can remove clutter. Cosmetic advertising is the promotion of beauty products through different media. These types of promotions are aimed at men and women, create a desire in them to improve their looks, and enhance their physical attractiveness. These products range from eyeshadow to underarm sprays. The last decade witnessed tremendous increase in the use of cosmetics by the Indian consumers, with both men and women showing greater concern over their personal grooming. This is mainly due to the changing lifestyle, media coverage, product choice and availability, and also the increase in the disposable income. The cosmetics industry is dominated by multinationals like L'Oreal, Elizabeth Arden, Revlon, HLL and Lakme, and the commercials by these companies promise a lot. But these baseless claims aired in the advertisements are better if ignored because, in reality, these promises about the beauty and skin care products are really shocking and count nothing. These commercials use celebrities and ambassadors to entice the consumers for brand attention and product purchase, though they cannot substantially prove the authenticity of their claims.

This is the term we often find in the commercials of skin care products. Many ads of skin care products promise to remove wrinkles or prevent the skin from aging. But in fact, they contain ingredients of chemicals and laboratory solutions in large formulations. But still they can't prevent wrinkles even after using many times. It's just the fragrance that gives pleasure for sometime, without serving the purpose eventually. These cosmetics merely promote a sense of well-being. They can cause skin problems, which might turn red and sore first, and it could even worsen, if not dealt appropriately.

At times, we may use a product for long time. But after certain time, our body might not be able to cope with it. This is because our internal body system does not allow too much use of cosmetic, which are liable to allergy thereby causing skin problems. Cosmetics also come up with term like soothing botanicals. Botanicals refer to extracts from plants in the liquid form (juices or oils). There are certainly some soothing botanicals, but botanicals like lavender oil and jojoba can (which exist in cosmetics) be harmful. They create a sense of itching, allergy and irritation.
