The article talks about the training imparted by Infosys Technologies Limited, one of Indias biggest IT and software company to its employees, especially for the fresh recruits. The selection criteria of Infosys, various stages of its recruitment process, and the rigorous training module, which Infosys conducts at its newly founded Infosys U, one of the largest corporate training centers in the world has been described. Infosys being rated as the worlds best in employee training and development by `The American Society for Training and Development for consecutive three years 2002, 2003 and 2004, is the testimony of Infosys commitment towards its employees.

Ashish Gupta, a final year mechanical engineering student from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi was overjoyed as he was short listed to appear for the campus interview of one of the most reputed Indian IT company, Infosys Technologies Limited (Infosys). Ashish was the department topper since his first year at IIT and was expecting a similar outcome of the final year results. He had a complete week to prepare for the Infosys interview. Though he knew and had heard a lot about the company, he wanted to know more, especially how Infosys trained its new recruits. That evening after his classes, he went to the campus Internet café and started browsing. He downloaded the required information and started sequencing it so that he could reflect on the same later.

In 1981, seven software professionals led by NR Narayana Murthy started `Data Basics Corp.,' an on-site software developer company mainly for US customers, with an initial capital investment of US$250. The company was later renamed as Infosys.

Though the promoters had wide experience in handling projects in many developed countries, Infosys during its initial years still struggled to get projects due to lack of reputation, inadequate infrastructure, and government regulations. But the determination of the promoters and their full involvement got them their first order worth US$120,000 which they completed successfully in time. Exports increased and Infosys set up a software development center in Bangalore, India. In 1987, it established its first international office in California, US.
