The BPO employees traumatized with severe work pressure as they could not balance their professional and personal lives. The tender minds of the youth get suffocated with the monotonous process of dealing with clients day in and day out. But now employees are becoming aware of their health and are adopting means to lead a normal healthy life. Corporates and in-house clinics are working together to help relieve the employees from this stress.

Does the thought of office make you bitter? Are you getting sick, now and then? It is invariably a sign of burnout. Amrita Ahuja, 26, a spirited BPO call center employee is suffering from profound tiredness of late. She has erratic sleeps, frugal eating habit and has persistent agonizing pain in her neck. But after a series of tests, including brain scan, chest X-ray and thyroid/urine examinations, Amrita's physician found nothing serious with her general health. Another person, Arjun Arora, 36, a Mumbai-based travel agent is having unusual memory loss. According to his friends, he was called a "mobile directory" because of his miraculous power of rattling off phone numbers. But it is unfortunate that Arjun now cannot even remember his own mobile number. Both Amrita and Arjun are actually suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). About 30% patients who visit the general hospital are suffering from this presently distressed disease. It is found out that people in BPO, media, advertising and aviation industry are the worst victims of this syndrome. Women suffer four times more from these high stressful jobs. The pressure to prove themselves both at home and at workplace makes women more prone to this disease. It is also terrible to know that 90% of CFS cases stay undiagnosed. CFS, also an immune dysfunction syndrome persists for more than six months causing short-term memory loss, lack of concentration, sore throat and swollen lymph nodes. CFS sometimes continues for years. These patients barely sleep and they actually consume a lot of rubbish food.
