This case study tries to bring out both sides of the coin that what could happen to an MBA student in future 20 years down the line coming out with a degree in his hand. It looks into the present and tries to correlate the things in the broader spectrum for students with an MBA degree in hand.

In today's dynamic scenario, when the whole world is almost a global village, the need of the hour is an increasing number of skilled professionals. Companies in this contemporary period are hiring people from all nooks and corners by offering them higher salaries. Reputed institutes, like the IIMs, XLRI, FMS, etc., are offering better campus placements not only in India, but abroad. It's a craze today for a person having an MBA degree. But only an MBA degree is not enough to guarantee better placements.

The teaching methodology adopted by B- Schools is also turning to be almost stereotyped. Today, in many such institutions, the faculty seems more focused on completing the syllabus in time, rather than imparting them a quality education with well-structured infrastructure. Present students are becoming the future managers. What MBA education actually needs are: Better teaching faculty, broad-based syllabus, wide variety of courses offered, better infrastructure, along with campus placements.

If we perceive the future of MBA colleges and courses 20 years down the line, what are the areas that need to be pondered over? As is quite obvious, there would be cut-throat competition due to increasing number of management institutes. B-Schools need to upgrade and improve the campus infrastructure to meet the challenges posed by their competitors. Now within a span of twenty years, 2-years MBA degree might get turned into a 1-year MBA programmed due to lack of time and stiff competition. There would be an immense pressure on the part of the institute offering MBA courses to have diversified attributes in order to survive in the market. What can be the features at that time? In my view, the following can be the features of the MBA colleges: Highly qualified teaching staff, highly structured syllabus, increased number of courses, better infrastructure, and more assured campus placements.

In the present period, MBA degree is not a hard nut to crack, since various modes of providing MBA degrees are available. There are various methods of providing degree today which an MBA college resorts to like 2-year full-time program, correspondence course, distance learning program, 1-year executive program for working people and online MBA program for working executives. The array of part-time MBA courses is very vast. One can easily find the best and the cheapest online MBA courses. Studying an online MBA program is not stressful. If you are an employed professional, getting a degree from online MBA colleges is the best option for you. Some people have doubts about the opportunities and scope that an online MBA course provides to its graduates. Let us, therefore, discuss the opportunities that an online MBA graduate has.
