In the present era, organizations have started relying largely on people as their core strength. With changes occurring in all departments, Human Resources (HR) development has not remained untouched. Survival in this century depends on the ability to respond to these changes. HR managers are now striving to meet new organizational requirements to accomplish larger business objectives in their effort to be one step ahead of others. Training and development of HR, together with the setting up of a conducive work environment are the primary concerns. This article focuses on endeavors at all levels for effective HR development.

Human resource is the soul of any organization. The human race is respected above all others owing to its cognitive ability. The intellectual capital is considered to be the most valuable resource by the practitioners of human resource development. Some of the organizations have already started relying on their people rather than the technology and processes they possess, to achieve sustainable competitive advantage.

For an organization to rise and shine, one has to ensure that it has the right people with right skills and competencies. Success of any organization in this transforming society is partly reflected in its endeavor to retain budding talents. A powerful organizational culture lowers the attrition rate in that organization.

For the sustainability of organizations leadership with new skills and competencies is required. Leadership is behavior, not position (Bass, 1990). When the word "lead" becomes a noun from verb, it becomes burdened and loses its meaning "to guide".
