Spiritual intelligence is beyond
religion. It refers to the ability
or intelligence of human beings to live as human beings!
Man is different from his fellow beings in physical, mental and
moral equipment. He has memory, language, conscience,
reverence, awe and wonder coupled with an enormous sense of
discrimination between good and evil, the right
and the wrong, the appropriate and the inappropriate.
Singh G (2008) defined `Spiritual Intelligence' as "an innate ability
of thinking and understanding of spiritual phenomenon and to
guide the everyday behavior by spiritual ideology."
Spiritual intelligence is guided by two components. One is
Integrity and the other is Love for the supreme being (God) and Fear
of Sin. These two concepts find reference in all spiritual texts of
the Hindus as, Manas ekam, vachas ekam, karmanyekam Mahatmana, and
Daiva Preethi, Papa bheethi and sanga neethi.
Unity of thought word and deed is Integrity. Manas anyath vachas anyath karman anyath
duratmana When there is no integrity
(unity of thought word and deed) in a person, he is considered to be a
bad person. Integrity thus becomes a basic necessity to get qualified as
a human being in the spiritual world. Integrity when
coupled with self-discipline makes an individual spiritually and
emotionally intelligent. |
