Abstract
Most of the companies the world over are heading towards a major disaster in terms of workforce. This disaster spreads rapidly resulting in the form of a labor crunch, which seems to be the most formidable challenge in the near future. The companies can set right this problem by modifying their employment deals with an underlying concept of treating their employees as their consumers.
Description
The labor markets are tightening and skill shortages are looming. This marks the beginning of the workforce crisis. In such a context what should companies do? Are they actually paying heed to the impending danger of workforce crisis which has already started to take its most threatening form? These are few of the many questions running around in most of our minds who are well aware of the facts and figures which signal the start of a workforce crisis.
The
book "Workforce Crisis" from the Harvard stable is a well drawn book
which clearly puts forth the global workforce scenario in the years to come. The
book is divided into four parts. First it talks of the challenges faced by the
Management due to the constant change and evolution of the workforce demographics.
Then it tries to segment the employees into three worker cohorts for the purpose
of analysis and tries to put forth the need for a new employment deal which can
cater to and engage the new employee segments in order to avert the impending
crisis.
