Knowledge
transfer especially to economy isfrom a society perspective
one of the prominent services universities have to render
beside teaching and research (Wissenschaftsrat,
1986, p. 17). Often, it is criticized that the potentials
existing in offering these services in Germany are far from
being fully exhausted (Jonas, 2000, p. 9). Therefore, the
objectives of this paper are: to show the status of knowledge
transfer; to analyze this actual situation by showing why
the broad possibilities of knowledge transfer from universities
to economy are so seldom used; and finally, to propose a
way how the transfer willingness of the actors in the university
can be increased, with specific reference to the German
background.
After
the presentation of the task and the way of processing knowledge,
this paper presents the field of knowledge transfer in the
context of corporate social responsibility. This contains
especially a definition, a demonstration of the different
ways and streams of transfer from the perspective of the
university. After the theoretical basis is established,
by means of different indicators, it shows how knowledge
transfer is practiced actually in Germany compared to other
countries. The results lead to an analysis why the status
of knowledge transfer from universities to economy has reached
a low level. Then, it describes the different causes. Actually
a few attempts can be made to overcome the shown hindrances.
One of the instruments to minimize some hindrances is a
performance measurement approach which includes the aspects
of knowledge transfer. The conclusion gives a summary of
the results of this paper and forecasts other methods to
strengthen knowledge transfer. |
