The engineering education system consists of several components, viz.,
educational programs, human resources, physical resources, instructional
resources, finance, etc. These components are interrelated and interdependent.
An action in one area results into a chain of reactions in other areas.
Presently, many engineering institutes are being managed without considering
the various components in totality. Rather, piecemeal approach has become the
consistent way to solve most of the educational problems faced by the
engineering education system.
The system concept is getting a great deal of attention in industrial as well
as academic circles. An engineering education system can be viewed as a
complete organism for its effective and efficient management. This article is an
attempt towards applying and analyzing engineering education through system
approach and by studying its relevance with concepts of Total Quality
Management (TQM). |
