The e-business project involves the setting up of an e-business or e-enabling the existing business. The increasing use of Internet to conduct business and government transactions, and the increasing demand of electronic transactions among individual customers has forced organizations to enhance their operations online. E-business becomes very aggressive and time is a critical factor in launching a website for business. Before starting the e-business project, the project management team should be in a position to plan, design, managing the total website. This paper discusses the project planning process involved in e-business projects.

In short span time, websites have moved from just displaying the information to providing a place for sales, customer service, feedback and sales promotion activities. As a result, most of the companies have turned to the Internet that is moving into a virtual market place. In today's technology dominated business environment, e-business is seen as a potent tool to streamline business processes and reduce operating costs. Organizations are connecting e-business to create value for their customers and it is becoming a major concern for them. Consumers, on the other hand, rapidly change from site to site, the way they shop for many reasons such as effectiveness of website, friendliness, logical flow, fast-loading pages and graphics, security features, browser compatibility and finally professional look.

In such an atmosphere, some e-projects survive and others do not. The degree of success depends directly on how well you know what is to be achieved and how best to go about it. To compete in this competitive e-business market, a well-planned project management is imperative for the success of the project.

Electronic business (e-business) is the administration of conducting business through the Internet. This would include the buying and selling of goods and services, along with providing technical or customer support through the Internet. E-business is a term often used in conjunction with e-commerce, but includes services in addition to the sale of goods.
