Abstract
Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) as an industry is here to stay. One unique aspect about the BPO industry is its innovative rewards and recognition program in the form of incentives, perks, facilities and acknowledgements. It can vary from company-sponsored holidays, picnics, movies, etc., to pursuing fully-sponsored educational degrees.
Description
The range of awards is so flexible at times that a high performer can actually choose one that suits him best from a bouquet of awards and concessions. The rewards and recognition programs also help a prospective high- performing employee to get noticed and in getting promoted to the next level of hierarchy.
The major future thrust areas for these companies must be creation of competitive pay packages, designing meaningful training and development programs and conducting timely employee satisfaction surveys. The challenge for a BPO company is the continuous innovation in its reward and recognition programs to be ahead of its competitors.
The Indian BPO industry has been growing at a rapid pace. Most of the big cities such as Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi already have a burgeoning list of the best foreign companies outsourcing work to India. One intriguing fact to be analyzed about this industry is its reward and recognition programs which help in retaining employees. Gone are the days when an employee was happy with a yearly bonus and a pat on the back from his superior.
