Abstract

This paper provides insights on consumer car-buying behavior (CBB) based on a systematic literature review (SLR) of 60 studies and bibliometric analysis of 386 articles extracted from the Scopus database for the period 2000 to 2021. While the SLR helped in appraising the selected documents by applying different tools and techniques, the bibliometric analysis helped evaluate the research activity and pattern based on clusters such as authors, countries, article citations, co-authorship, co-occurrence of keywords, and bibliographic coupling. The study findings underline CBB trends and helps in determining the intellectual structure of the concerned studies.


Introduction

The current automobile industry is extremely competitive, dynamic, knowledge-intensive, and technology-led (Bhat et al., 2021). Competition has caused businesses to change substantially to provide the best services to their customers and fulfill their continuously increasing needs (Byun, 2001). The situation has been further compounded by technical improvement, rapid globalization, and readily available market information to consumers (Maheshwari et al., 2016).
