Introduction

Amidst the growing concerns about the quality of education, a few would dispute that the scenario of nation's education is not that promising. The keen observers would understand that the problem can neither be attributed to the ability of the teachers to teach nor the student's capacity to learn but may be a lot to do with the flawed approaches to learning adopted by education that narrowly focuses on acquiring the content while dismally ignoring the process of learning. To deem education as a commodity to be consumed for earning one's living than a rigorous pursuit for living a fulfilled life, building strong character-oriented personality may have aggravated things further. Many say that it is hard to understand what learning really is and the causes of its efficacy. Very few books indeed offered needed insights to address the pertinent issues related to learning. The book Life is a School: Learning as a Way of Life comprising three chapters, written by Dr. Col. VRK Prasad is an excellent book that can address some of the burning issues facing education. While tracking each stage of life, the author amplifies learning demanded in each stages by extensively quoting the ideas ingrained in ancient Indian scriptures.
