Cloud Computing is a groundbreaking technique which provides lots of facilities such as storage, memory, CPU and facilities like serve and web service. It allows businesses and individuals to subcontract their computing needs and trust a network provider with its data warehousing and processing. The fact still remains that cloud computing is a resource-finite domain where cloud users contend for available resources to carry out the desired tasks. Allocation technique of resources is desirable for improved usage of resources allotted. The paper reviews various allocation techniques of resources embraced in literature and concentrates majorly on investigating game theoretic submission for allocation of required resource, as a potential solution in modeling the resource allocation and optimization problems in cloud computing. A comparison of seven game theoretic techniques for allocation of resources is made. Various ways of game theories can be implemented in allocation of resources. Based on this, a guide was proposed to aid the adoption and utilization of game theoretic resource allocation strategy.
