Abstract

This study focuses on understanding the importance of career planning and development in the hotels of Pune city. For the same, a survey of employees working in hotels was conducted to help understand their perceptions of career planning and development. The study used regression analysis and the findings suggest that gender, age, management level, etc. have no impact on career planning and development. A person should learn at every stage, as the world is changing rapidly with many innovations in the process, technology and so on. Career planning and development is a very important aspect for employees as well as for the organization. Organizations should focus on the career planning and development of employees by understanding their skillset requirements, which may lead to minimizing the attrition rate.


Introduction

Employees are a major asset of any organization. Therefore, organizations should continuously aim for retaining employees by keeping them motivated. Organizational success is dependent on the efforts taken by employees to accomplish a task, which helps in developing employee career. Long-term goals are always achieved by managing employees effectively. Further, due to globalization, many changes are occurring, and to sustain in this competitive world, employees are the most effective resource. There is always the need to upgrade skills and knowledge, and every organization should take care of their employees in order to achieve the goals and maintain competitive edge in the market.
