The study captures the essence of the experiences of 480 randomly identified rural women entrepreneurs in Andhra Pradesh, India. It assesses their empowerment levels and analyzes the differences based on marital status, age, educational qualifications, number of family members and dependents. Introduction

The advancement of women is essential for a nation’s overall development. A woman entrepreneur is someone who adjusts to changing socioeconomic conditions, while maintaining her financial independence and role as an employer. Entrepreneurs have a strong drive to act, making them ideally suited for delivering and providing quality in both personal and professional spheres. Women are capable of launching, running, and managing successful enterprises. The Indian government defines women entrepreneurship as a business that has at least a 51% female ownership ratio and provides at least 51% of its employment opportunities to females.
