Virtuous Leadership and Team Effectiveness in HEIs: The Mediating and Moderating Roles of Knowledge Sharing and Perceived Organizational Support
Abstract

This paper studies the potential advantages of virtuous leadership (VL) and its influence on team effectiveness (TE) within the context of higher educational institutions (HEIs). It examines the role of knowledge sharing (KS) as a mediator and perceived organizational support (POS) as a moderator in the relationship between VL and TE. The study was conducted in Uttarakhand State, and the data was collected from the employees working in different HEIs. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. The findings suggest the significant influence of VL on TE, with KS playing a pivotal role as a mediating factor and POS as an essential moderating factor. The study supports the significance of solid leadership in cultivating productive teamwork, wherein leaders who exhibit honesty, thoughtfulness, and forgiveness facilitate knowledge exchange among team members. Furthermore, it has been observed that the perception of support from the organization has a positive impact on the association between VL and KS.
