Workplace spirituality can become a way of life in organizations, provided the employees and the organization are willing to invest in this process deliberately. The practice involves bringing about spiritual changes in the employees and the organization using proven techniques that will transform the lives of employees from a purely materialistic path to a spiritual path that will bring in inner peace, contentment, and meaningfulness and enhanced organizational effectiveness. The approaches used in this endeavor differ and are broadly classified as inside-out and outside-in.
Workplace spirituality is gaining momentum in organizational life across the world as employees are getting disenchanted with the hard-core materialism that sweeps the organizational functioning that intends to maximize profit only. It is the recognition of the significance and value of the human spirit (Spirit), which pervades the thoughts, emotions and motivations of the human mind, that opens the door to the practice of spirituality at the workplace. Like any other human resource, spirituality can also be inculcated, given the appropriate conditions, framework and will in the workplace (Heaton et al., 2004; Pawar, 2009a; and Houghton et al., 2016). The purpose of the paper is to explore some psycho-spiritual interventions that can help employees and organizations become spiritual oriented.
