Introduction

Duvvuri Subbarao is a renowned banker, economist and a retired IAS officer. He served as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from 2008-2013. Other responsible positions he occupied were: Finance Secretary to the Government of India (2007-2008) and Secretary to the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (2005-2007). Subbarao also had an illustrious career as an IAS officer, rendering services spanning 35 years. He served at various positions at the state level in the Government of Andhra Pradesh and at the central level in Government of India. He was a Visiting Fellow at National University of Singapore, and later at University of Pennsylvania. Currently he is a Visiting Faculty at Kautilya School of Public Policy, Hyderabad, and at Yale University, US.
