Impact of Green Transformational Leadership on Green OCB Through Green Mindfulness and Environmental Self-Identity: A Serial Mediation Model
Abstract

The green transformations in the global business scenario demand its leaders to contrive ways to nurture green organizational citizenship behavior in their employees. This requires the leaders to showcase green transformational leadership. Alongside, leveraging the green mindfulness of the employee, they need to exploit their environmental self-identity. This study adds to the existing literature by examining how environmental self-identity and green mindfulness serially mediate green transformational leadership that justifies green organizational behavior among workers. The Theory of Affective Events and the Theory of Self-Determination serve as the foundation for the study. Upon analyzing the information gathered from professionals in India’s Information Technology industry, it became apparent that the relationship between green transformational leadership and green organizational citizenship behavior is serially mediated by green mindfulness and environmental self-identity. The study majorly contributes to the literature by strengthening the understanding of the factors impacting the organizational drive to survive in the thriving green economy.

Introduction

The environmental crisis faced by the world has gone beyond global warming. Corporate houses and conglomerates have to mark their green credentials and support the world in its initiative of mitigating and repairing damages to the environment.
