Composite materials play a leading role in recent research and various applications. Natural fiber composites have been developed and tested for their various advantages. Different combinations of fibers have been tested so far to be used as better alternative materials in a variety of day-to-day applications. In this paper, an attempt has been made to develop a natural fiber-based polymer matrix safety helmet. Jute fiber has been chosen because of its better desirable properties in comparison to those of other natural fibers. In order to improve the properties of the proposed helmet model, a synthetic fiber (e-glass fiber) has also been added to the selected natural fiber to make it a hybrid composite helmet model and subjected to a drop test. Numerical analysis has been performed using ANSYS workbench to predict the total deformation and stress induced in the helmet models for the subjected loading conditions.
Scientists from all around the world are currently working to conserve the environment and biodiversity by enhancing the quality of environment-friendly and sustainable products (Jeyaprakash et al., 2021; and Dayalen et al., 2022).
