The study critically analyzes the influence of normative commitment, knowledge sharing and job satisfaction on employee functioning. The target area for this study was private hospitals in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data; and structural equation modeling (SEM) and Smart PLS 3 were used for data analysis. The study found that job satisfaction and knowledge sharing had an impact on employee functioning, and that job satisfaction mediated the relationship between knowledge sharing and employee performance. However, the study found no significant direct impact of normative commitment on employee performance, contradicting existing theories suggesting its positive influence.
Knowledge sharing is the process of interchanging critical information among employees. Nowadays, in most of the companies, employees are willing to share their potential expertise with other employees. The present study provides insights on knowledge sharing, its merits, and the ways to enhance it in the organization.
