Mapping the Evolution of Green Entrepreneurship: A Bibliometric Analysis
Abstract

This study presents a bibliometric analysis of green entrepreneurship research from 1991 to 2025, leveraging data from 441 peer-reviewed articles sourced from the Scopus database and analyzed using R Studio’s Biblioshiny tool. The analysis uncovers a significant surge in scholarly output post 2020. Key findings reveal Sustainability (Switzerland) as the leading journal, King Faisal University as the most prolific institution, and Singh as the top contributing author. Keyword co-occurrence patterns highlight two thematic clusters: environmental innovation/policy and sustainable entrepreneurship/socioeconomic impact. The study identifies critical gaps, including underrepresentation of African research and the need to explore how dynamic capabilities mediate sustainable performance. The study contributes to the understanding of Green Entrepreneurship by providing insights into emerging research themes and collaboration networks, offering valuable directions for future research. Additionally, the study proposes an Integrated Framework of Green Entrepreneurship (IFGE), offering a conceptual lens to explore the dynamic interplay of external policy pressures and internal innovation drivers in achieving sustainable outcomes.

Introduction

Green entrepreneurship has emerged as a pivotal concept in addressing global environmental challenges, while fostering economic sustainability. As businesses increasingly integrate sustainability principles into their operations, green entrepreneurship serves as a catalyst for innovation, promoting environment-friendly products, services, and business models (Schaltegger & Wagner, 2011).
