Bibliometric analysis of literature offers information on research trends. The present paper seeks to combine network visualization provided by VOS-viewer and bibliometric analysis to explore the current state of corporate governance (CG) research in order to understand how CG research has evolved over time. The study examines a total of 2,830 papers, published between 2010 and 2023, all extracted from the Dimension database. Additionally, it applies scientific method to pinpoint research direction and important keywords, besides giving some additional context to the findings for future research. By concentrating on annual production, author networks, journals, keyword co-occurrence, and influential CG publications, the study adds to the body of existing literature. It is found that there has been an increase in yearly research output, author output, and citations globally, indicating a growing interest in CG studies.
Corporate Governance (CG) is a set of practices, norms, protocols, and regulations, which act as standards for the effective management and control of a firm. According to Antwi et al. (2022), management and control failures of many companies have made CG a persistent topic of conversation.
