OPPO SuperFactory
Abstract

This case study is about Chinese consumer electronics and mobile communications company OPPO. The company has a manufacturing facility in India located at Greater Noida. The huge manufacturing unit of the Chinese company is efficiently producing units for not just the Indian market but also the global markets. The manufacturing unit, termed as a superfactory, houses state-of-the-art machinery operated by well-trained staff. The process is operated efficiently to avoid errors, and every second at the unit is accounted for. This efficiency has helped OPPO declare that it is able to produce one smartphone every 3 seconds in this superfactory.

Introduction

On February 27, 2021, Chinese consumer electronics and mobile communications company OPPO1 featured in the famous Superfactories series on National Geographic2. With this, it joined the league of companies like Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Corvette3, Apache Helicopters4, Caterpillar5, Tetra Pak6 and logistics giant UPS, which had featured in the series. The show featured OPPO’s manufacturing facility in India, located in Greater Noida7.
