The paper investigates the performance of high-rise buildings with and without outrigger and shear wall system at various soil conditions. It involves the use of ETABS to perform analysis of a reinforced concrete (RC) structure. ETABS is used to understand the structural response of the building with and without outrigger system and shear wall, and to observe local failure and its effect on the overall structure. The structure is modeled in accordance with the structural concrete requirements specified in the building code. Seismic analysis is conducted to study the response of the structure for different cases with different soil conditions. The results demonstrate that a building with outrigger system and shear wall is more efficient in reducing story displacement and drift and in enhancing story stiffness.
Outriggers play a vital role in enhancing the stability, structural integrity and overall performance of tall buildings experiencing lateral forces, for example, wind and seismic loads.
