A universal framework for global development toward a safe, just, and sustainable future is provided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by world leaders in 2015. The implementation, impact, and problems of SDGs and its relationship with corporate governance are the main topics of this bibliometric review of relevant literature. The study uses Bibliometrix (R language), VOSviewer, and NVivo to examine important research trends, thematic clusters, and correlations among highly cited studies based on data from Scopus-indexed publications from 2017 to 2025. The results shed light on the changing conversation about sustainable development by highlighting SDGs’ successes as well as drawbacks, notably with regard to their implementation and measurability. The study advances knowledge of how SDGs influence sustainable policy, and provides information for upcoming scholarly and policy-driven debates on international sustainability initiatives.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are meant to be universal in that they represent a widely held global vision of advancement towards a secure, equitable, and sustainable environment where all people can live and prosper (Osborn et al., 2015).
