It is said that nothing is permanent in international relations, neither friendship nor enmity. One thing that is permanent is serving one’s national interest. This enduring principle of international politics remains valid in the context of India-Turkey relations. Relationship between India and Turkey has, over the years, gone downhill, from bonhomie to strategic hostility. Both do not have any direct point of conflict between them; however, some of Turkey’s recent decisions have severely impacted its relations with India. This paper seeks to examine the relationship between India and Turkey in the 21st century and the key reasons behind their present-day behavior.
