Suseela is seated in a small co-working space in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India in early 2025. She is threading a borrowed virtual reality headset from a local technology hub that, according to global standards, is at least 5 years old. She sees the headset as more than just a marker of the infrastructural deficit in India. For Suseela, the challenge is to reimagine training for under-resourced hospitals and medical colleges. To this end, she is creating an immersive training solution that integrates virtual reality (VR) and what she terms a ‘metaverseenabled training platform’.
