Battery Management Systems in Electric Vehicles: Challenges and Technology Trends
Abstract

The paper reviews the critical role of battery management systems (BMSs) in electric vehicles (EVs), focusing on material selection, technological advancements, and operational challenges. It discusses the importance of durable PCB materials, thermal management solutions, and contact components for reliable BMS performance. The study examines emerging trends, including artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) integration, for accurate battery state estimation and fault detection. Additionally, it highlights manufacturing innovations and sustainability considerations essential for advancing BMS technology, ultimately supporting safer, more efficient, and environmentally sustainable electric mobility.

Introduction

Battery management systems (BMSs) require materials that can withstand harsh operating conditions while maintaining electrical integrity and thermal stability (Andrea, 2010).
