Identifying Key Factors Influencing Cattle Milk Yield
Abstract

Introduction

India has attained and retained the first rank in milk production in the world, achieving a record output of 239.30 million tons in 2023-2024, with a per capita availability of 471 grams per day. India’s milk production is not growing fast as it used to. It went down from 6.62% in 2018 to 3.78% in 2024, largely due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the aftermath (FICCI, 2022). The rising demand for milk products is expected to lead to higher procurement costs.
